Beitou Millennium Hot Spring is still closed, and the date moved again
Beitou's famous NT$60 open-air public pool shut in January 2025. Every guide still prints 28 July 2026. The office that actually runs the pool quietly moved that to 26 September 2026 — on 29 July, the day after the old date passed.
The short answer
Closed. Works now due to finish 26 September 2026, opening date announced separately after that. Completion is not opening, so there is still no date you can plan a trip around. Every other bath in Beitou stayed open throughout.

The primary source, and how to read it
The Millennium Hot Spring (千禧湯) is run by the Taipei City Parks and Street Lights Office. Not the tourism bureau, not the hot spring association — the parks office. Their own FAQ page is the only source that matters here, and on 29 July 2026 they updated it to read:
本館於114年1月24日起暫停營業，規劃進行整建工程，工程預計至115年9月26日完成，後續開放日期於官網公布為主。
In plain English: closed since 24 January 2025 for renovation works; the works are expected to be completed by 26 September 2026; the subsequent opening date will be announced on the official website.
The clause everyone will get wrong
「後續開放日期於官網公布為主」 — the opening date will be announced afterwards. The office is committing to finish building work by 26 September. It is explicitly not committing to open the gates that day.
Expect to see "Beitou's famous pool reopens 26 September" all over the internet within weeks. That is a construction milestone being read as a booking date. On a project that has already slipped through four failed tenders and one missed completion date, the gap between "works finished" and "public admitted" is not a formality.
We will not print an opening date until the parks office prints one. When they do, this page changes the same week.

Still NT$60, still six sessions a day
The posted tariff has not changed through the closure. This is the cheapest legitimate open-air hot spring bathing in Taipei, and it is why the pool matters at all.

Where to get open-air terraced bathing instead
The thing people miss about Millennium is not the price — it is standing in an open-air pool under the trees in a public park. Three places give you that today. None of them costs NT$60.

The stakes · 04 — why one closed pool distorted a whole valley
What happened to Beitou while it was shut
Millennium was the only place in Beitou where an ordinary visitor could bathe outdoors, in public, for the price of a coffee. Everything else in the valley starts around ten times that.
When it closed, that demand did not evaporate — it moved uphill into the resorts. Local reporting through the closure described hotel outdoor baths running at several hundred visitors a day, at tariffs an order of magnitude above the city pool. The valley did not lose bathers; it lost its cheap tier.
That is the honest context for every "Beitou is expensive now" comment you will read. Beitou is not expensive. Beitou's one cheap option has been behind hoarding for nineteen months.
What this means for your trip
If you are budgeting a Beitou day right now, budget it without Millennium. The realistic floor for getting into water is the NT$150 at Longnice or a resort voucher around $15.39. Treat the NT$60 pool as a bonus you might get lucky with, not the plan.
And if you are reading this after September and the gates are open — congratulations, you are getting the version of Beitou that the guidebooks have been describing for twenty years, and it will be busy.

Read this page knowing what we get out of it
Every row in the table above except the foot baths pays us a commission. The NT$60 pool pays us nothing and never will — it is a municipal facility with a turnstile and no affiliate programme.
So when Millennium reopens, our revenue from this page goes down. That is a straightforward conflict of interest and you should hold us to it: if you ever find this page still saying "closed" after the parks office says otherwise, we have either been lazy or dishonest, and neither is acceptable.
The commitment. We re-read the operator's page monthly and stamp the date at the top of this one. The next scheduled check is mid-September, and again immediately after 26 September. If the date slips a fifth time, we will say so as plainly as we said this.

Millennium Hot Spring, answered
Is Beitou Millennium Hot Spring open?
No. It closed on 24 January 2025 and remains closed as of August 2026. The operator now expects the works to finish on 26 September 2026, with the opening date announced separately afterwards.
When will Millennium Hot Spring reopen?
There is no published opening date. The Taipei Parks and Street Lights Office says the construction is due to complete on 26 September 2026 and that the opening date will be announced on its website after that. Completion is not the same as opening, and this project has already missed one completion date.
Why did the reopening slip from July to September?
The rebuild was tendered four times before a contractor was appointed on 28 October 2025 on a 270-day schedule, which put completion at 28 July 2026. That date passed. On 29 July 2026 the operator updated its own FAQ to give a new completion date of 26 September 2026.
How much does Millennium Hot Spring cost?
The posted tariff is NT$60 full and NT$30 concession per session, with free entry for over-65s during the 08:00–10:00 session. Six sessions run from 05:30 to 22:00. A rebuilt facility could reprice on opening.
Do you need a swimsuit and swim cap at Millennium?
Yes, both, and both are enforced. It is a co-ed outdoor pool, so a swimsuit is required — not underwear and not board shorts — and a swim cap costs about NT$100 at the door if you forget one.
What is the best alternative while it is closed?
Spring City Resort's nine terraced open-air pools are the closest substitute, at $17.15 booked ahead against NT$800 at the counter. For something cheap and unfussy near the station, Nan Fung is $21.39. The free public foot baths in Beitou Park never closed.
Is Beitou worth visiting while Millennium is closed?
Yes. Every other bath, both free sights and all the private rooms stayed open throughout. What the closure removed is the cheap tier, so budget from about NT$150 rather than NT$60 for getting into water.
