Beitou hot spring hotels, with or without the night

Almost every hotel in this valley sells its bath separately from its beds. That single fact reshapes the decision: you can have the cypress tub, the mountain view and the robe for the price of a lunch, then take the metro home — or you can stay, and wake up to a thermal tap in your own bathroom.

The short answer

Day use from $14.95; a night from roughly NT$4,000 to NT$30,000. Stay overnight only if a private in-room hot spring is the point of your trip — Beitou is thirty minutes from central Taipei, so the usual reason to book a bed here is the bath attached to it, not the location.

The key decision · 01 — bed, or just the bath

Do you actually need to stay the night

Beitou is a district of Taipei, not a remote onsen town. The metro runs until roughly midnight and the ride is thirty minutes. So the honest question is not "which hotel" but "why a hotel at all".

The mistake worth avoiding. Booking a hot-spring hotel room and a separate private bath elsewhere. If your room has its own thermal tap — and most Beitou hotel rooms do — you have already paid for the water. Check the room description before you book anything on our private rooms page.

Beitou hot spring hotel day use, compared

Every hotel here that sells its bath to non-guests, cheapest first. These are pre-booked voucher prices; door prices are usually higher, and Spring City's is dramatically so.

Voucher prices live from our booking partner, snapshot August 2026. Where a door price is known we print it beside the online one — the Spring City gap (NT$800 against roughly $17.15) is the largest we found in the valley, and the reason we bother listing both.

Where to stay in Beitou

Four tiers, and the thing that actually separates them is not the bed — it's whether the hot spring comes into your room, and how private it is when it does. Nightly figures below are indicative ranges from published hotel material, not live quotes; check the date you want before deciding.

TierPer nightHotelsWhat the money buysSuits
BudgetGuesthouses and older spa hotels NT$1,300–4,000≈US$40–130 Small village inns and older spa hotels around the station. We have not verified a specific one at this tier, so we are not naming any. A bed near the station and access to a shared bathhouse. Rooms rarely have their own thermal tap at this level. Solo travellers, one night
Mid-range — the sweet spotFull resorts with private in-room springs NT$3,200–9,600≈US$100–300 Spring City Resort, Sweetme Hotspring Resort, Radium Kagaya, JBG Hot Spring Resort Hotel A thermal tap in your own bathroom plus the resort's public pools, and usually breakfast. This is where staying overnight starts to make sense. Couples, families
LuxuryDesign hotels and mountain-view suites NT$9,600–32,000≈US$300–1,000 Wellspring by Silks, The Gaia Hotel, Grand View Resort Beitou Large private baths, valley views, serious restaurants, and enough quiet that you notice it. Grand View and Gaia both look out over the valley rather than at the next building. Anniversaries, a splurge night
The exceptionVilla 32 — five suites, adults only on request Villa 32 The most exclusive address in the valley: no children, no phones in the baths, and a day-use bath at $67.59 if you want to see it without committing to a night. Adults, no compromises

Ranges are indicative and drawn from published hotel tiers rather than live availability — Beitou pricing swings hard between weekday and weekend, and doubles around Chinese New Year.

Three things that decide the room, not the price

Is the spring in the room?"Hot spring hotel" can mean a shared bathhouse downstairs. If you want a tub of your own at 23:00, the room description must say so — this is the single most common booking disappointment here.
White sulfur, green sulfur or iron?Beitou has three waters. Most hotels tap the milky white sulfur; the rarer green sulfur sits nearer Thermal Valley, and iron springs run further uphill. Ask if it matters to you.
How far uphill? The valley climbs steeply. Station-side hotels are walkable with luggage; hillside resorts need the shuttle or a taxi, which is fine until it's raining and the shuttle left.

Against our own interest — when not to book a hotel here

Three reasons to sleep in central Taipei instead

You have two or three days in Taipei. Moving hotels burns half a day and the metro makes Beitou a two-hour errand. Base yourself near a main interchange, come out for an afternoon, bathe, eat, and go back. Day use costs $14.95–$67.59; a night here costs multiples of that and buys you a longer commute to everything else.

You want to eat well. Beitou's food is the market, a handful of hotel restaurants and not much after 21:00. If dinner is a priority, sleep where the restaurants are — the bath will still be here tomorrow.

You're travelling with teenagers or a group. Rooms here are built for two. Family rooms exist but cost like suites, and the quiet that makes Beitou lovely at night is exactly what a group of five will be asked to preserve.

The case for staying is narrow and real: a private thermal tub you can use three times in twelve hours, and a valley that empties after eight. If that's the trip you want, book the mid-range tier and don't overthink the rest. How a full Beitou day fits together →

Beitou hot spring hotels — straight answers

Can I use a Beitou hot spring hotel without staying overnight?

Yes — almost all of them sell day use, and it's the normal way visitors bathe here. Prices run from $14.95 at Water House to $67.59 at Villa 32, and most include towels, robes and lockers. See the day-use table.

Which Beitou hotels have a private hot spring in the room?

Most mid-range and luxury properties do — Spring City, Sweetme, Radium Kagaya, Wellspring by Silks, The Gaia Hotel, Grand View Resort. Budget guesthouses generally don't; they give you access to a shared bathhouse instead. Always confirm in the room description rather than the hotel description.

How much does a hot spring hotel in Beitou cost per night?

Roughly NT$1,300–4,000 for budget rooms, NT$3,200–9,600 for mid-range with an in-room spring, and NT$9,600–32,000 at the luxury end. Weekends and Chinese New Year cost substantially more than weekdays.

Is it worth staying overnight in Beitou?

Only if a private in-room hot spring is the point. Beitou is thirty minutes from Taipei Main by metro, so you aren't buying access — you're buying a tub you can use at midnight and a valley that goes quiet after eight. On a short Taipei trip, day use plus a central hotel is the better trade.

Which is the best hot spring hotel in Beitou?

For most people, Spring City Resort — nine outdoor pools, in-room springs, a free MRT shuttle and by far the deepest booking record in the valley. For a splurge, Villa 32 (adults only, five suites) or Wellspring by Silks. For value, Water House.

Do Beitou hotels allow tattoos?

In your own room, always. In hotel public bathhouses, policy varies and tends to be stricter at traditional nude sections than at co-ed swimsuit pools. Booking a room with its own spring makes the question disappear.

Are Beitou hot spring hotels good for families?

The mid-range tier is. Spring City admits children under 110 cm to its pools free, and rooms with private tubs let you control the temperature — important, since 40°C+ is too hot for small children for long. Villa 32 is adults only. More on Beitou with kids.

How far are the hotels from Xinbeitou station?

Three minutes on foot to Nan Fung, five to ten to the village hotels, and fifteen minutes uphill or a shuttle ride to the hillside resorts like Spring City and Grand View. The valley is steep — check the walk before arriving with luggage. Getting to Beitou.
